TITANINNEN
About the Project
TITANINNEN is a short film developed at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. Set in Germany, 1793, it follows sisters Lu and Ika who vow to stay together despite the patriarchal society they live in. As they are married off to the Prussian court, keeping their promise becomes increasingly difficult.
eye-candy.xyz was responsible for creating the statue used in the intro sequence. The team scanned a real statue to capture fine details and proportions accurately, then developed custom textures and shaders to achieve the desired realism.

Behind the Scenes
The production workflow combined sculpture scanning with custom shader and texture development to create a photoreal CG asset that could be seamlessly integrated into the live-action film sequence. Special attention was paid to matching the lighting conditions established on-set.
Scan-based Reconstruction
The team scanned a real statue to capture all the fine surface details and correct proportions. Working from the scan data, production-ready geometry was built that preserved the subtle stone texture while being optimised for the film's rendering pipeline.
Glowing Veins VFX
Once the CG statue was delivered, the Filmakademie motion graphics artists added the haunting glowing veins that appear across the statue's surface during the intro, a stylised VFX highlight that establishes the film's tone. The two teams worked closely to ensure the CG surface responded correctly to the glow effects.
Final Film Sequence
The finished intro sequence combines the CG statue, glowing veins, and dramatic cinematic lighting to create the opening moments of TITANINNEN. Watch the complete sequence above. The statue is the centrepiece asset delivered by eye-candy.xyz.
